Mission Works

The Broad Street Church of Christ is actively engaged in mission works at home and around the world. The church is currently involved with the support of the following works: International Bible College in Florence, Alabama; AGAPE of North Alabama; Rainbow Omega - a home for the mentally handicapped in Pell City, Alabama; the Innercity Ministry in Montgomery, Alabama; Medical Mission trips to Belize, Central America; the University Bible Department in Kramatorsk, Ukraine; personal mission trips to Russia, Thailand, and India; disaster relief; mission work in the state of Georgia; and provides help to the Jackson Church of Christ in Jackson, Kentucky and Piedmont Road Church of Christ in Marietta, Georgia. Evangelistic support is also provided to the World Bible School correspondence courses for many students in South Africa and to James Watkins' TV program, "Preaching the Gospel."

Several members of our congregation have been actively involved in mission works. Johnny Mack Young has headed campaigns to Jackson, Kentucky, and over twenty members of our congregation accompanied Johnny Mack on those campaigns. Jim and Gloria Harrington, Robin Shelton, and Vanessa Hale have participated in Medical Mission trips to Belize. Gloria has also participated in a mission trip to Romania. Jeannie Propst participated in a Medical Mission trip to Tegucigalpa, Honduras with a group of students from David Lipscomb University. The Broad Street church, along with the Radford Virginia Church of Christ, is supporting the work or the church in the city of Yalta on the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine.
