Fiber Ethernet Access

The Scottsboro Electric Power Board offers dedicated, synchronous Ethernet access via our fiber optic network. This access is ideal for commercial entities who require a large amount of bandwidth, both to the Internet and in a point-to-point VPN environment. Unlike the shared cable modem network, the Fiber Ethernet network provides a dedicated connection using secure VLAN network architecture.

The Fiber to the Subscriber (FTTS) network architecture means virtually flawless network connectivity for the customer. A pair of single mode fiber optic cable is terminated at the customer's premise using an 8-port Ethernet Access Portal. Each port can be configured for separate VLAN's if the customer wishes to segregate their network (data, voice, video, etc.). One routable IP address is provided so that the network can be 'visible' to the Internet. This allows the customer the option of running their own email or web server in-house. The things that can be done with FTTS connectivity are endless, we simply provide the broadband pipe. No services are limited or prohibited on this network.

Please contact us at 574-2682 if you have any questions or would like to see a hands-on demonstration of the system and an explanation of why this solution might be right for you.
