Alan's life is a story
of courage, hope, peace, and
trust in the Lord.

September 15, 1989 - December 10, 2004

Alan's life has been a fight against cystic fibrosis. After fighting a brave battle against this disease, he received a double lung transplant in September 2000. For several months Alan could breathe well, but his lung function began to decline. In February 2004, after 33 days on a ventilator and given very little hope of surviving, Alan was miraculously blessed with a second double lung transplant, making him approximately the 67th person under age 18 and the 367th person of any age in the U.S. to have the surgery twice.

This web page was created as part of a fund-raising effort to meet expenses related to relocation and medical needs, but it has become much more. It is an opportunity to ask faithful believers in the Lord to lift up Alan and our family in prayer. It is also an opportunity to share our faith and trust in God. It is our desire that Alan's story will help someone find the source of hope, ease the fear of someone facing a transplant or similar situation, and encourage someone to tell their family they would want to be an organ donor if they had to make that decision. We will forever be grateful to both our donor families, who made the loving decision to help someone else in the midst of their own pain and grief.

We thank everyone who has prayed for Alan and our family. We would certainly appreciate your continued prayers. We have learned a lot through Alan's battle. One lesson is that when we face life's battles, we need to put our faith in God and ask him to fight the battle for us!

Thus says the Lord to you: Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. (2 Chronicles 20:15)

Isaiah 40:31

"They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint.

"I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "plans for good and not for harm, to give you a future and a hope." - Jeremiah 29:11
