The Methvin/Methven family has been divided into the following groups.

1. Nathan Methvin and family.   Nathan and family came from Delaware and settled in Georgia in the late 1700's.  His family is well documented in the John F. Methvin Family Memoirs written in 1932.

2.  Thomas Methvin and family Thomas and family settled in Wilkinson County Georgia.  His descendants include Rev. John Jasper Methvin, the Missionary to the Kiowa Indians and Eugene Methvin of Reader's Digest.

3.  Levi Methvin and family.    Levi and family came from Maryland thru Virginia to Madison County, Alabama.  After that they dispersed into Bell, Fannin, and Grayson Counties in Texas, Yellville, Arkansas, Mississippi and other areas,

4   James Methven and family. This family came from Scotland, settled in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Minnesota, and later California and Oregon.

5.  Other lines

The Tombstone of Levi Methvin in Madison County, Alabama.
The grave is in Bragg Cemetery and the tombstone says, "In Memory of Levi Methvin, Born September 23, 1768, Died July 28, 1847.
