ELIZABETH METHVIN TONEY Elizabeth Methvin, the daughter of Levi and his second wife Anna Massengale, was born in Madison County, Alabama between 1825-1830. She married Lorenzo D. Toney in Madison County, on February 29, 1847. The Toney's were living in Limestone County, Alabama at the time of her father's probate in 1849, however, they are listed in the 1850 Madison County census. The ages are listed as 30, however this is wrong according to the 1830 and 1840 census, where she is listed as being under 5 years old and 10-15 years old respectively. 1850 Madison County, Alabama , Lorenzo Toney 30, Elisabeth 30, Levi 1 By 1860, the Toney's had moved to Izard County, Arkansas, in the township of Mill Creek. The census record is very hard to read. The ages are off on Lorenzo and Elizabeth, possibly should be 37 and 33. Mary Methvin Kirk,, Elizabeth's sister and her son Joseph were living with the Toney's.
Children of Lorenzo D. and Elizabeth Methvin Toney 1) Levi, born July 14, 1849 accordin to the Silas Turnbo manuscripts, not listed in 1860 census. 2) John, born about 1854 in Madison County, Alabama, wife Texana, had a daughter Sarah born about 1878. 3) Frances E., born about 1858 in Arkansas, married John Thompson and had James in 1878 and Josie in 1880. 4) Mary, born about 1862 in Arkansas. |
